Abortion Pill Information

Understanding the Abortion Pill

One option you may be considering is the abortion pill, also known as medication abortion. It’s important to know the facts about this method before making a decision. The abortion pill involves two medications, taken in a specific sequence to terminate a pregnancy.

Risks and Side Effects

Like any medical procedure, the abortion pill carries certain risks and side effects. These can include heavy bleeding, infection, and incomplete abortion, among others. We encourage you to carefully weigh the potential side effects and consult with a healthcare professional before moving forward. Here are some common side effects that you may want to review before taking the abortion pill: h

Most Common Side Effects

  • Abdominal/Stomach pain or uterine cramping
  • Back pain
  • Diarrhea
  • Dizziness
  • Headache
  • Nausea or vomiting
Pre-Pill Considerations

Being well-informed is key to making a decision that’s right for you. Before choosing the abortion pill, it’s crucial to undergo an ultrasound to determine the gestational age and location of the pregnancy. This information will help ensure the method’s effectiveness and your safety.

You have options. We have information.

The best thing you can do for your health is to get answers to the following important questions:

  • Am I really pregnant?
  • Is my pregnancy viable?
  • Do I have an ectopic pregnancy? What is that?
  • What if I am unsure about what to do?
  • What abortion procedure could I have?

Being fully informed before any medical or surgical procedure is critical for your health and well-being. We know it’s a big decision and we want to support you.

Costs and Comparisons

The cost of medication abortion can vary depending on factors like location, pharmacy, and health insurance coverage. In comparison to surgical abortion, the abortion pill may cost less than a surgical abortion but it’s important to know the facts. It’s essential to research and understand the costs or fees associated with any abortion method. You will likely want to have a Pre Abortion ultrasound done, which can be scheduled with us at Care Net Milwaukee at No cost to you. No insurance is required and there are no age restrictions. All are welcome from minors to teens to adults and their partners, family members, or support network.  We do not provide or refer for the abortion pill, but we do provide this free pre-abortion ultrasound which gives you helpful information prior to taking the abortion pill.

Pregnancy Confirmation Info

My Pregnancy Test Came Back Positive. Now What?

When you first find out you are pregnant, it can be overwhelming to know what the next steps are. When you take a pregnancy test at Care Net Milwaukee, we ensure you get directed to the next best step, which is an ultrasound. Ultrasounds are so important, and they can tell you so much about your pregnancy. To best care for you and your pregnancy, an ultrasound is necessary.

Why are Ultrasounds Necessary?

Care Net Pregnancy Center of Milwaukee, or any clinic, will want to conduct an ultrasound early on in your pregnancy in order to:

  • Confirm your pregnancy
  • Estimate gestational age
  • Rule out ectopic pregnancy and miscarriage

A pregnancy test alone does not determine whether a pregnancy is viable. A urine test will detect the presence of the hormone HCG which is present during a pregnancy. This hormone can be present up to 5 weeks following a miscarriage. Up to 20% of pregnancies can end in miscarriage.

The age of the baby and the viability of the pregnancy are both crucial factors for you to know when deciding how to approach an unplanned pregnancy.  In fact, if you’re considering abortion, the law in Wisconsin requires that you have an ultrasound before the abortion.

How Much Does an Ultrasound Cost?

Our ultrasounds are completely free. We know that discovering you are pregnant can be overwhelming, and we don’t want to put added stress on your shoulders. We don’t charge for any of our services, including ultrasounds. We also do not require insurance.

Call or text 414-962-2212 to learn more about an ultrasound at Care Net.
