What are some common pregnancy symptoms?
For the most accurate results, it’s generally best to take a pregnancy test at least one week after your missed period. While some tests claim to detect pregnancy earlier, the levels of the pregnancy hormone (hCG) may not be high enough for a reliable result before this time. Taking the test too early can lead to a false negative. If you take a test earlier than one week after a missed period and get a negative result, but still suspect you might be pregnant, we recommend retesting in a few days or scheduling a free lab-quality test at our clinic for confirmation.
What are some common pregnancy symptoms?
- Missed period
- Tender, swollen breasts
- Nausea with or without vomiting
- Increased urination
- Fatigue
Symptoms often appear as early as one week after conception, but for some women, it may take several weeks before symptoms become noticeable. Even more confusing, most early pregnancy symptoms are very similar to PMS symptoms. Every woman’s experience is unique, and the intensity and timing of symptoms can vary.
Are the tests accurate?
Our tests are lab quality and over 99% accurate. The tests are administered in a private room with the assistance of a trained client advocate.
Taking a test at home leaves more room for error and you are more likely to get inaccurate results. For instance, taking the test too early, improper use, or diluted urine can all affect the accuracy of a home pregnancy test. While home tests offer convenience, clinic-based tests provide several advantages that contribute to higher accuracy. Our lab-quality tests are administered by trained professionals who ensure proper technique and environmental controls, minimizing the chance of user error. Additionally, clinic tests often have a higher sensitivity level, meaning they can detect lower levels of the pregnancy hormone hCG, allowing for earlier and more reliable detection. The controlled environment and expert administration at our clinic offer a more dependable result compared to at-home testing.
How long will the appointment take?
The appointment is generally 30-45 minutes with a client advocate but can be shorter or longer depending on your needs. The test itself takes only 10 minutes to complete. You may come alone or you may bring a partner, family member or friend with you. If you have other children we may be able to provide you with some additional support in the form of diapers, wipes and baby clothing. Please ask how we can help!
